IAN BROWN BREAKS STONE ROSES SILENCE




IAN BROWN has broken his silence over the rumoured STONE ROSES reunion -and has asked guitarist JOHN SQUIRE to call him.

Excitement grew last month when three original members of the band (Squire, Mani and Reni) – bar Brown - were spotted together at a gig in Manchester.

The baggy pioneers were then asked to fill the vacant headlining Sunday headlining slot at Glastonbury left by Kylie.

Brown, who until now has not commented on the reunion rumours, exclusively told NME.COM: “It’s like a yearly rumour now isn’t it? You’re talking to the man who’s done four LPs and is putting together a Greatest Hits, so really that’s all that’s on my mind.”

He explained: “If the kid was serious, John, why doesn’t he phone me? Why does he go through the media? Why doesn’t he call me? I’ve got the same phone number as when he last spoke to me on nine years ago. Why doesn’t he phone me? That’s all I’m saying.”

When asked what his response would be, Brown quipped: “It’d probably be two words.”

Brown is currently putting the finishing touches to his ‘best of’ LP, provisionally titled ‘The Greatest’ and due for release on September 5.

“I’m mad excited,” he said. “We’re just been deciding the new single and we’ve got a top coloured booklet with all the photos from the last eight/nine years. There’s going to be a 13-track bonus CD with all the best B-sides and remixes so it’s a good package.”

‘The Greatest’ will be preceded by the single ‘All Ablaze’ on August 22

voglio gli SQUIRE ROSES...senza Ian.
